The local landscape here is filled with Duns and raths, places that if you are living here you might take for granted. But these places are filled with mystery and wonder. Through her work Aishling has "Drawn Up" references to this reservoir of visual culture that we are all steeped in. Stars, spirals and flower forms re-emerge within her pieces as if arriving independently themselves with the artist as a channel. Presences filter through. For instance... a robed and crowned figure in red and yellow floats in front of us as in the "alien" piece she has made. - Sean O Dwyer From Ashes opening Speech
This collection of work was completed over two years and marks Aishling's first serious exploration of painting as a medium. It represents and tells the tales of a transformative internal shift. It is the learning of the development process of how Aishling connects with paints as a medium, which serves to connects the artists inner world with a newly informed outer representation of it.
