There is a time to write, a time to photograph, a time to perform & also a time to paint.
What follows are collections of works mirroring and expressing when it was those times. The paintings have all been created during one sitting, drawing on and teasing out the emotions, thoughts & frustrations which were rushing around inside calling for release in that present moment. The process is intuitive & tactile, most of the time working with water colour, painting with hands and fingers.
When she started to turn to paint as a medium we were all surprised particularly because of the way she handled the substance of paint. She treats it in a most unique way & its a way that refreshingly rejects preoccupations we have in painting with "coolness" or "trendy" contemporary fashions & yet it is very contemporary in a new way.
Aishling swirls the paint, she engraves it, she pushes it around, she smears it & prods it. In her hands paint becomes an incredibly expressive medium. It responds to her sensibilities in a way that become a conduit for deeply emotional almost primordial forms that emerge on the membrane of the surface of the painting in ways that Aishling has shown an incredible aptitude to manifest.
This is a gift & is her gift to us, which demonstrates how to bring this creative freedom to the surface. This is the gift of fearlessness in the face of transformation.
