Recession in the Midlands
MFA Art In The Digital World
NCAD Dublin

The MFA in Art in the digital world was a taught programme for students who wished to explore how contemporary art practice responds to the digital world and who also wanted to gather the skills needed to harness the creative possibilities provided by new technologies. The course was specifically conceived to support students in developing their art practice while critically exploring the relationships between art, technology and contemporary society over a two year period.  Aishling completed this MFA program at NCAD Dublin between 2008-2010
Choosing to work with the topic of the current downturn in the Irish economy since the financial bust earlier that year, Aishling set about taking up a two year research based project looking at the political impact of the recession on her homeland in the rural midlands of Ireland. This resulted in many different smaller based projects as the final works were created.
